Things That I Like

The Brevard Mountain Bike Association (BMBA) have been building, adding, and expanding local MTB trails in Brevard County for all to enjoy. All of the trails are free, but an annual membership takes nothing and you’ll get some really cool stickers. If you don’t want to pay, be sure to go out and dig. ridebmba.org

Surfrider have been protecting our seas, beaches, and waterways through activism and local beach cleanups for over four decades. Our local chapter has made changes throughout the entire sate of Florida through outreach and legislation. If you can’t donate, join a beach cleanup. or better yet, host your own. spacecoast.surfrider.org

I’ve lived on Florida for the large majority of my life. So it’s hard to know what it’s like to live without a massive diversity of animals everywhere. When I go out on wildlife photo shoots, I see more out-of-state license plates than at Disney World. I forget how many people flock to the Sunshine State to experience our birds. audubon.org

I spent a lot of time touching grass. If I don’t go outside daily I can be a bit irritable and my wife can notice. My entire wardrobe consists of outdoor specific gear. Helping a turtle across the street and into the woods can happen at any moment. I have to be ready. rei.com

It’s crazy that I live in a county of nearly 700,000 people where murals are a plenty and every small coffee shop sells local art, but there isn’t an art supply store around. I have to travel to Orlando to buy my wares. At least there’s Sam Flax. A small chain of art supply stores that feel like a mom & pop store that supports all local artists. samflaxorlando.com

Every place in the house where I spent any amount of time there is always a guitar or ukulele at arm’s reach. Even by my bedside. It bothers my wife that I can be watching TV while strumming random licks. I just never know what to do with my hands. guitarcenter.com

There are so many local organizations and companies that I support. You can see more on my website: vertseven.art/love/
